Issue details
Urban Forest Strategy
The trees and vegetation that make up the
urban forest provide a range of benefits such as habitat for
biodiversity, carbon storage and flood protection. This strategy is
for the whole city, not just City Council land and seeks to protect
what we have, increase what we have, and engage communities and
stakeholders in the process. The strategy has a target to increase
the overall canopy cover for Oxford using the “right tree,
right place” principle. The strategy highlights specific
areas where there is particularly low canopy cover or where
benefits can be maximised.
