Extension of a funding agreement with Oxfordshire County Council for the provision of the Home Improvement Agency (HIA) service
Decision Maker: Head of Regulatory Services & Community Safety
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: Yes
Is subject to call in?: Yes
Purpose:
To consider renewal of the existing three year funding agreement with Oxfordshire County Council for the provision of the Home Improvement Agency service from 1st April 2022 to 31st March 2025 with an option of a two year extension.
Decision:
To agree a renewal of the existing three year funding agreement with Oxfordshire County Council from 1st April 2022 to 31st March 2025 with an option of a two year extension.
Reasons for the decision:
The decision provides continuation of a service funded by the County Council to enable those residents in need of support to maintain their independence, health and well-being at home for the foreseeable future. This aim will be achieved through the repair, adaptation and improvement of residents’ homes, so that the person is able to remain in their own home in a safe, secure and accessible environment.
Continuation of the existing successful HIA service will support vulnerable residents’ needs and support all of the council’s priorities:
Enable an inclusive economy
Deliver more, affordable housing
Support thriving communities
Pursue a zero carbon Oxford
Alternative options considered:
The option not to renew the agreement was rejected, as this would not enable the support for vulnerable residents to be provided.
Signed off by senior officers:
Decision taken by Ian Wright, Head of Regulatory Services and Community Safety in consultation with Nigel Kennedy, Head of Financial Services; Susan Sale, Head of Law and Governance and Councillor Linda Smith, Cabinet Member for Housing.
