Purpose:
For the Director of Planning and Regulation to
approve the Community Infrastructure Levy application for
Councillor Mundy
Decision:
The Director of Planning and Regulation decides as follows:
Approve the Community Infrastructure Levy request from Councillor Mundy to part-fund a long-term sustainable heating and cooling plan for the Florence Park Community Centre for £840
Reasons for the decision:
Councillor Mundy has submitted a request for £840 to part-fund a long-term sustainable heating and cooling plan for the Florence Park Community Centre. The Councillor notes (to part-fund (half, match funded to achieve fundraising goal) the drawing up of a long-term sustainable heating and cooling plan for the Florence Park Community Centre, by sustainable design experts Ingleton Wood. Full cost of the plan is £1680. This will provide a detailed, costed design for the necessary building improvements and new technologies to allow the centre to operate at a comfortable temperature year-round, while minimising energy use and carbon emissions. This design plan will give the trustees of the FPCA the information they need to approach large external funders, to raise money for the works themselves. This is necessary to allow the Centre to continue to operate as a vital community hub, providing a warm space for vulnerable residents in winter and a cool space in summer, while minimising energy costs and adapting to the impacts of the climate crisis)
Alternative options considered:
The Ward Member spend could not be approved; however, the application has been reviewed by the relevant consultees and fits with the scheme as set out within the Constitution.
