Purpose:
To provide an improved income stream to the Council and to facilitate investment in the asset to improve and diversify the city centre offer.
Decision:
To approve the detailed heads of terms and proceed to enter into the transaction described in the report to Cabinet on 20 January 2021.
Reasons for the decision:
To give effect to the change to the lease arrangements approved by Cabinet.
Alternative options considered:
To not proceed with the transaction described in the Cabinet report – this would not support the regeneration of a key asset within the city centre which has benefits in terms of supporting economic growth and contributing to the recovery of the city following the impact of the current pandemic.
