Exempt Matters If the Sub-Committee wishes to exclude the press and the public from the meeting during consideration of any aspects of the preceding or following agenda items it will be necessary for the Sub-Committee to pass a resolution in accordance with the provisions of Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 specifying the grounds on which their presence could involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as described in specific paragraphs of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act if and so long, as in all the circumstances of the case, the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information. Minutes: The Sub-Committee resolved that under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the remaining items of business on the grounds that their presence would involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as described in Paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act.

HCPH: Suitability to continue to drive Private Hire Vehicles in light of the revocation and restoration of his DVLA Driving Licence. Minutes: The Head of Community Services submitted a report detailing a case to determine the licence holder’s application to renew and suitability to continue to drive Private Hire vehicles in the light of the revocation and restoration of his DVLA driving licence.
The Sub-Committee resolved to REFUSE the application to renew a Private Hire Driver Licence as the licence holder did not meet the Council’s licensing policy which requires applicants to be free from convictions and cautions for the specified time.
The Sub-Committee AGREED that there were no grounds to revoke Private Hire Vehicle Licence. |

The Chair commented that this was the last meeting of the Hackney Carriages and Private Hire Licensing Sub-Committee that Councillor Royce would attend as she was standing down from the Council. He thanked her for her commitment and contribution to the work of the Sub-Committee and the licensing service over many years.
Councillor Royce thanked the Sub-Committee and officers. She said that she hoped that the Council would continue to appoint a female to the Sub-Committee as she believed this provided an important perspective. |
