Barton Community Association
1. To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Barton and neighbourhood without distinction of sex, political, religious or other opinion by associating the local authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants; and
2. To maintain and manage the Neighbourhood Centre on behalf of the residents of Barton and to co-operate with any local statutory authority in the management of the community element of the centre for activities promoted by the Association and its constituent bodies.
The Council appoints 1 representative to sit on the board of Directors in a non-voting capacity.
Councillors are asked to act as a link between the City council and the Association, and to act in the best interests of the Association at all times. They should listen to concerns and issues and convey information to the City Council.
In particular, the Association asks for information about issues around the Barton development, and for support to be offered to the Association as and when needed.
