Welcome by the Lord Mayor

Minutes:

The Lord Mayor opened the meeting.

63.

Proposal of Motion

The Lord Mayor will ask Councillor Antonia Bance to move in accordance with Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972 that the Honorary Freedom of the City be conferred on Oxfam.

Minutes:

Councillor Antonia Bance in accordance with Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, moved that the Honorary Freedom of the City be conferred on Oxfam.

Second and Support of Motion

Councillor John Goddard will second the Motion and Councillor Craig Simmons will support the Motion.

Minutes:

Councillor John Goddard seconded the Motion by Councillor Antonia Bance and Councillor Craig Simmons supported.

Council to vote on Motion

The Council will vote on the Motion and, if carried, the Lord Mayor to present the scroll recording the conferment to Dame Barbara Stocking on behalf of Oxford.

 

(The Local Government Act 1972 requires the Motion to be passed by not less than two-thirds of the members voting on it).

Minutes:

Following a vote, Council resolved that the Honorary Freedom of the City be conferred on Oxfam.

 

The Lord Mayor, Councillor Alan Armitage, presented the scroll recording the conferment to Dame Barbara Stocking on behalf of Oxfam.

66.

Closing speeches

The Lord Mayor will invite Dame Barbara Stocking to reply before he formally closes the meeting.

Following the presentation by the Lord Mayor of the scroll recording the conferment, Dame Barbara Stocking replied.
