Approval of the Ward Member Budget Application for Councillor Arshad.

Decision Maker: Director of Communities & Citizens’ Services

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

For the Director of Communities and Citizens Services to approve the Ward Member Budget application for Councillor Arshad.

Decision:

The Director of Communities and Citizens Services decides as follows:

Approve the Ward Member Budget request from Councillor Arshad for £200 payment to Integrate Community CIC. The funding will support The Barn Nightingale Avenue to continue to run Breakfast at the Barn.

Reasons for the decision:

Councillor Arshad has submitted a request for £200 for the payment to Integrate Community CIC. The funding will support The Barn Nightingale Avenue to continue to run Breakfast at the Barn.

The Councillor notes ‘Support for the Breakfast in the Barn to continue operating. I have provided funding since it began from the HSF, but this ran out recently and our next pot of funding 'Crisis and Resilience Fund' will probably not be available for several months - late September/October, leaving some grassroot projects in a difficult spot. The Breakfast in the Barn has become an integral part of the Leys community - whilst we explore long term sustainability, including requesting a small charge, it would be beneficial if you are collectively able to support this with your ward funding in the interim.  On average the weekly project provides a breakfast for approximately 40 individuals. As you know for many it is a place to socialise and meet the local community as well as enjoy a hot breakfast.

Alternative options considered:

The Ward Member spend could not be approved; however, the application has been reviewed by the relevant consultees and fits with the scheme as set out within the Constitution.
