Purpose:
To enter into a Statement of Common Ground between Oxford City Council and South Oxfordshire District Council.
Decision:
To enter into the Statement of Common Ground between the Land Owners (of which the City Council is one) and South Oxfordshire District Council in support of the allocation of land within the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2034.
Alternative options considered:
Two further options were available;
1. Not to enter into the SOCG
2. Seek to amend the SOCG further
SOCG are an established part of the local plan process and assist the inspector by ensuring the focus of discussion at the hearings is on matters of contention. Therefore not to enter the agreement would risk lengthening the local plan hearings to the detriment of the process and plan adoption. The SOCG was considered to reflect the matters in agreement between the Land Owners and South Oxfordshire District Council.
