Purpose:
On 16 October 2017, the City Executive Board
resolved to use £50,000 of the 2016/17 Council underspend to
provide an emergency support scheme to cover essential living costs
for people migrating to Universal Credit within that financial
year, and to delegate authority to the Executive Director
Organisational Development & Corporate Services to develop the
scheme in consultation with the Executive Member for Customer and
Corporate Services.
Decision:
The £50,000 was subsequently made
available in accordance with the resolution to create an
exceptional hardship fund that was administered in line with the
Council's exceptional hardship policy and in coordination with the
Council's DHP policy. Customers have benefitted and continue to
benefit from this fund with ongoing measurement of the expenditure
in place.
