Election of Lord Mayor for the Council year 2021/22

Council is recommended to resolve to elect as Lord Mayor to the start of the Annual Council meeting in May 2022

·         Councillor Mark Lygo.

 

Minutes:

Cllr Lygo left the room and Cllr Goddard (Deputy Lord Mayor) took the Chair.

Cllr Brown proposed, seconded by Cllr Turner, that Cllr Lygo be elected Lord Mayor. There were no other nominations.

Council resolved to elect Cllr Lygo as Lord Mayor of Oxford for the Council year 2021/22.

Cllr Lygo returned to the room, signed the Declaration of Acceptance of Office, and took the Chair from Cllr Goddard.

Extension of the terms of office of the current civic office holders

Council agreed at the Annual Council meeting in May 2020, and confirmed at the Council meeting on 30 November the Councillors who should serve as civic office holders for an 18 month term from 30 November 2020, subject to their re-election as councillors, and a vote confirming their re-election at this meeting. All three councillors (Cllr Lygo, Cllr Goddard and Cllr Wolff) have been duly re-elected.

Minutes:

Council noted the decision at the Annual Council meeting in May 2020, and confirmed at the Council meeting on 30 November, that Councillors appointed as civic office holders from 30 November 2020 would hold office for an 18 month term, subject to their re-election as councillors, and a vote confirming their re-election at this meeting.

Extension of the terms of office of the current civic office holders

Council is recommended to agree

1.     to extend the terms of office of the

Lord Mayor Councillor Craig Simmons;

Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Mohammed Altaf-Khan; and

Sheriff Councillor Steve Goddard

to the start of the Council meeting on 30 November 2020; and

2.     to appoint, with the decision taking effect from the start of the Council meeting on 30 November 2020 (or at the end of that day should the scheduled Council meeting not take place on that date),

Councillor Mark Lygo as Lord Mayor;

Councillor Steve Goddard as Deputy Lord Mayor; and

Councillor Dick Wolff as Sheriff

with the intention that they similarly serve an 18 month term, subject to their re-election as councillors and a vote confirming their election at the Annual Meeting of Council in May 2021.

Election of Lord Mayor for the Council year 2019/20

Minutes:

Councillor Wolff proposed, seconded by Councillor Gant, that Councillor Simmons be elected Lord Mayor. There were no other nominations.

 

Council resolved to elect Councillor Simmons as Lord Mayor of Oxford for the Council Year 2019/20.

 

Councillor Simmons took the Chair from Councillor Cook and subsequently signed the Declaration of Acceptance of Office.

Election of Lord Mayor for the Council year 2018/19

Minutes:

Councillor Hollingsworth proposed and Councillor Turner seconded, and there being no other nominations, Council resolved that Councillor Cook be elected as Lord Mayor of Oxford for the Council Year 2018/19.

 

Councillor Cook took the Chair from Councillor Fooks and subsequently signed the Declaration of Acceptance of Office.

Minutes:

Councillor Gant proposed and Councillor Price seconded, and there being no other nominations, Council resolved that Councillor Fooks be elected as Lord Mayor of Oxford for the Council Year 2017/18.

 

Councillor Fooks took the Chair from Councillor Altaf-Khan and subsequently signed the Declaration of Acceptance of Office.
